Michael and Noel wrap up the Johnny Weissmuller era the same way
they began it, with guest Ron Marz (
Batman/Tarzan: Claws of the Catwoman,
Korak the Killer), who'd just returned from South Africa with stories of an actual safari . It's mermaids in Mexico and memoirs about mammals in this very special episode.
Agree that first, Tarzan's sandals look ridiculous, and that yes, Benji should have been fed to a wild lion.
ReplyDeleteTarzan's octopus fight would have been much better had it been the MGM series, perhaps in Tarzan Escapes rather than the continuously recycled crocodile battle. It needed to be drawn out almost cliffhanger style, with the octopus restraining and immobilizing Tarzan underwater, leaving precious time for Tarzan to escape.
Regarding Johnny Sheffield's departure from the series - it was more a matter than he'd grown so much he looked more like he could be Jane's boyfriend than her adopted son. Of course maybe the reason Boy was shipped off to England was because he was staring too much at Jane. Sounds far fetched, but presumably at this point, Boy knows that Tarzan and Jane are not his real parents - note he calls them by their names. So one could understand how 16 or 17 year old Boy might be seeing Jane as more of a woman than as a maternal figure at this point.
They could have said that Boy ran away to join the circus.
